Special Economic Areas

Panama Pacific Special Economic Area

With a strategic position near the Panama Canal, this area has developed enormously in recent years by establishing essential companies within its perimeter. It also has residential areas, making it easy for executives and their families to settle in the area.

With logistics companies and similar high-end services, the Panama Pacifico Zone offers a high competitiveness with respect to tax, labor, and immigration regulations. Panama Pacifico allows manufacturing activities, assembly, call centers, technological support, and data processing.

Free Trade Zone

Panama currently has numerous Free Trade Zones throughout the national territory, which are contemplated in a greater scope for logistics and auxiliary services.

In the case of the Colon Free Zone, it is the leading free zone in the Western Hemisphere and one of the leading logistics hubs in the world.

The area offers a unique geographical position, becoming the hub for many multinationals to export and re-export their products in the region.

The activities allowed as such are logistics services, export, storage, packaging, and re-packing, among others.

Agroparks

As one of the last special regimes created to promote the agri-food industry, the Panamanian Government in 2021 established the Agro-parks regime. This regime encourages the joint work of private companies and public entities involved in developing agri-food, agro-industry, forestry, and seafood, as well as the opportunity to invest in technology related to this sector.

With excellent tax benefits, this regime offers reduced rates and exemptions from national and customs taxes for the establishment of both a company developing an agro park, as well as any company interested in entering this regime.
